About the game
In Lost Odyssey the player takes control of Kaim, a man who has lived for 1,000 years. The game's story revolves around the many generations of which Kaim is a part of, his loves and losses and conflicts in a world nearing a "mystical industrial revolution". Lost Odyssey's story is being penned by the award winning Japanese novelist, Kiyoshi Shigematsu who is working directly with the game's producer Hironobu Sakaguchi on the story sequences. Heading up the artistic demands of the title is famed Japanese comic artist, Takehiko Inoue, while famed composer Nobuo Uematsu has been recruited to create a more contemporary soundtrack.
FAQ created by Smug Dark Loser on xbox.com forums:
- Lost Odyssey has 20 hours of cutscenes.
Wrong! Lost Odyssey has 7 hours of cutscenes, 1 of which is CGI
(Sakaguchi, the president of Mistwalker have said it will have 20 hours of movie scenes so we will see)
- Lost Odyssey uses a static world map
Wrong! It does indeed have a world map as confirmed by new screenshots. There is also a airship, a boat (or something that can glide on water), and a submarine confirmed in the game.
- Lost Odyssey's battle system is very generic
Well, generic is opinionative. However, it uses a timing ring system. Many factors affect the stengths of hitting it, including items which will give you a special bonus for timing it right.
- Lost Odyssey will be teh suxors! cuz Blue Dragon was teh suxors!
Well, the main gripes with Blue Dragon was that it was anime and it didn't have an interesting story. Lost Odyssey is much more mature and is being penned by a famous Japanese novelist
- You have to read a book in this game!
Wrong! It is an optional side feature. You can skip it completely if you wish.
- Sakaguchi is on the decline and is teh suxors!
Umm.. his last game before BD was considered awesome and BD had problems because, well, it was too Japanese in short (it got a 37/40 in Famitsu). LO does look moreso a more universal accepted theme.
- This is a FF10 sequel.
Umm, I dont get where that comes from. Was it from the rumors of a static map basically? They don't have that many similarities.
- This is a proper sequel to the 2d FF games.
Wrong! This comment is said sometimes because at first the game appeared to be a medieval type fantasy setting with the first gameplay trailer. It is more of a mix. It has those sci-fi elements and is very industrious. Kind of like the mood of the setting in FF7.
- This games music sucks!
Wrong!
- The main character is yet again another gender confused male.
Wrong! At least i think he just looks like a dude with long hair.
